I bought one of these so that we could have a single cup of decaf in the evening. I also bought a package of pods to go with it. We like our coffee fairly strong, and the first thing I observed was that this little pod brewer made very weak coffee. So I tried doubling the pods. Don't try this at home. The little brew basket overflowed and made a mess. So no doubling up. The next thing I tried worked a little better. I used about half a Styrofoam cup of water and got reasonably strong coffee that way. But to get the amount I wanted I had to use 2 - 3 pods and the same number of brewing cycles to get a reasonable cup of java, which was not very cost or time effective.
Finally I hit on something that worked -- sort of. I forgot about the expensive pods and got some of those coffee singles in the tea bag -- the kind you brew with hot water or nuke in the micowave and then dunk up and down for 15 seconds (I used Folger's). I pulled the tag and string off the bag, stuffed it (the bag) into the brew basket, and filled a standard Styrofoam cup and poured it in (about 1/4" below the max fill line on the brewer). That got me about a half mug of somewhat strong coffee. My wife asked me, "why don't you just use the coffee single the way it was designed?" I replied that I was going to use my Cuisinart Single Cup Coffee Maker one way or the other, come h**l or high water (actually, doing it this way DOES save dunking the bag up and down and sloshing the cofee everywhere).
So ... if you actually LIKE weak coffee, you'll probably like this lettle gem. Or if you don't mind benefitting from my research and accepting its limitations, you can do okay too. But if you're looking for a good pod brewer, I'd go ahead and spend $100 and get a Gevalia or even Cuisinart's higher end product.

While on a trip to Linthicum, MD, I stayed at the Country Inn & Suites. I was extremely impressed with this little coffee maker in the room, so much so that I jotted everything from under the unit I needed to order my own for my office. The W1CM5 has got to be the handiest little thing I have run into in a long time. I strongly recommend one for all Exec's whose secretary doesn't get them coffee. You will not be sorry !! I guarantee it... The Hotel is also strongly recommended, it's definately top shelf at a lower shelf pricing.Full breakfast and catering to your every need.

I purchased this single cup pod maker to take on the road. At home I use the Senseo Pod Coffeemaker. This Cuisinart product does not work well at all. The cup of coffee it produces is like brown water. I think that is because it drips the water through the pod instead of by pressure. It was a waste of my money. But it is compact and a good idea if it worked....
